1)     Call to Order

 

2)     Panhandle Emergency Response System meeting began at 7:30 p.m. on March 27, 2008 meeting was held at Agrium.

 

3)     Attendees:

4)     Approval of amended minutes from last Meeting

Meeting was presented by Alan W. Wells

 

5)     Treasurers Report

a)     PERS has $ 4,446 in the account

b)     Linda has not been paid in 15 months – need to get current with her

c)      2 checks have not cleared the bank - going to get with Linda and the bank to get the situation resolved

d)     Not sure who has paid the yearly dues.

i)        5 departments so far (department unknown)

ii)      problems with receiving invoices.

iii)    Invoices will be sent out again on Friday.

e)     Need to put another signature on the bank card to sign check.

i)        There are 4 names presently on the card. 3 of the names have not been members of PERS or to a meeting in 3 years

ii)      Jeff Lunsford made the motion to put Calvin Nickell as the 2nd name on the signature card.

           2nd by Denzil Traylor.

            All in Favor, none apposed.

 

6)     Drill Committee

a)     Jason Voegeli, ConocoPhillips E&P, is putting together a drill for August 12-14, 2008

i)        A large range fire with wildland urban interface

ii)      Area-will start at highway 207 by panhandle and jump the road to spread along the same area the March 12, 2006 fires path.

iii)    Objectives           

(1)   Working together with multiple fire and emergency agencies

(2)   Activating the PERS response

(3)   Addressing property & civilians concerns

(4)   Attacking the fire

iv)    Counties already involved with the drill are Hutchinson and Carson.  Trying to get in contact with Grey and Roberts County to participate in the event.

v)      There was a planning a meeting Monday, March 24, 2008

vi)    There will be another meeting in May.

 

7)     Training

a)     POD (Point of Distribution) exercise on April 5, 2008 @ 9:00 a.m. @ the Dome in Borger.

i)        This exercise is for a pandemic flu in the area and how the distribution of medication and supplies

ii)      Need volunteers to help

      b)  Weather Spotters Class in Borger is March 31st at City Hall

      c)  NWCG Courses put on by the National Park Service will be coming up

            I) Call the Park Service if there is a class you want them to put on

            ii) Need to fill out a form for the class – with enough attendees will put on the class

      d) Trying to get the Texas Forest Service up to the area to teach IC 400

iii)    Need 12 students to make class

iv)    Need class to be compliant by September 2009

9)     Accountability

a)     Departmental Pass Cards

i)        Think about putting together business card as pass card

(1)   Will have the information such as name, department, call number, medical problems, picture etc…

(2)   Could be disposable

(3)   Made for each truck

(4)   Blank card could be available if pass card are forgotten.

10) New Business

            i) Need a 2nd chairman from a municipal department?

                  (1) Denzil made the nomination for Calvin Nickell to be the 2nd chairman

ii)      Paton Willis is joining us tonight. He is the new Chevron Phillips representative, replacing Shane Stehr.

 

11) Next Meeting

b)     The next meeting will be held at Dalhart Fire Department on April 24, 2008
