  1. Call to Order

    Panhandle Emergency Response System meeting began at 7:19 p.m. on February12, 2009 at the Pizza Duo in Borger.

  2. Attendees:

  3. Minutes from last Meeting

    The minutes from January meeting were presented by Alan Wells.

    Ron made a motion to approve the minutes with corrections.

  4. Treasurers Report
    1. As of 01/9/2009, the balance is $5,048.99
      1. Just received check from Spearman for 2007 dues
      2. Ron made motion to approve to pay an invoice of $65.00

  5. Drill Committee

    Nothing new to report

     

     

  6. Training
    1. Stinnett’s Basic EMT class will conclude in February.
    2. Boys Ranch will be having an EMT class –
      1. March 7 – June 15. Monday and Wednesday from 6-10
      2. Paid by grant.
    3. S130/190, a basic wild land firefighting class, is now available on-line. Contact the National Park Service at 865-3195 for a field day time.
    4. S-200, Multi-Resource Initial Attack IC class, held at the National Park Service
    5. Vega will be hosting a ICS 300/400 class 2nd- 5th 8-5 (day classes)
    6. Steve Drillette with the National Weather Service is encouraging everyone to get their weather spotter classes set up
      1. Weather Spotters classes
        1. Stinnett, Feb 23rd
        2. Spearman, March 19th
        3. Gruver, March 31st
        4. Borger, March 17th
        5. Perryton – in middle of month.
    7. All fire departments are encouraged to report all fires on the Texas Forest Service Reporting website: http://tfsfrp.tamu.edu/FDReporting/vfd/
      1. Texas Forest Service uses this information to assist with attaining resources for the state during wildfire season.
  7. Bylaws-
    1. Did update the bylaws to reflect the change to the dues made in July meeting.
      1. In Section 2 article 1- update fee as $125. New members will have a fee waived as a trial period, and reduce price for fire departments that can’t afford the rates.
      2. Section 1b will be update for Honorary Members and how to become Honorary Members status
      3. Calvin made motion adjust bylaws as practical.

  8. Accountability
    1. PRPC is working on standardizing accountability cards.

  9. New Business
    1. February 20th DDC meeting in Amarillo
    2. Ron made motion to make Dan Looney Honorary Member
      1. 2nd by Calvin

    3. Calvin made motion to make Linda McClellan a Honorary Member
      1. 2nd by Ron

    4. May be get a plaque with enough place on it for all honorary members
