  1. Call to Order

    Panhandle Emergency Response System meeting began at 7:53 p.m. on January 09, 2009 at the Channing Community Building.

  2. Attendees:

    The following persons were present:

  3. Approval of minutes from last Meeting

    The minutes from November meeting were presented by Alan Wells.

    Dale made a motion to approve the minutes.

  4. Treasurers Report
    1. As of 01/9/2009, the balance is $4,585.77
  5. Drill Committee

    Nothing new to report

     

     

  6. Training
    1. Stinnett’s Basic EMT class will conclude in February.
    2. Boys Ranch will be having an EMT class –
      1. They are waiting for a grant to be approved to begin the course.
    3. S130/190, a basic wildland firefighting class, is now available on-line. Contact the National Park Service at 865-3360 for a field day time.
    4. S-200, Multi-Resource Initial Attack IC class held at the National Park Service
      1. See the attached schedule and nomination form for NWCG Courses offered by the National Park Service.
    5. Panhandle, Spearman, Carson County, and Dumas will be hosting a ICS 300/400 class
    6. The Lifestar Landing Zone class in Stinnett went well in November, Very informative.
    7. NIMS new requirements for 2009 are for more training and drills
    8. Steve Drillette with the National Weather Service is encouraging everyone to get their weather spotter classes set up
    9. All fire departments are encouraged to report all fires on the Texas Forest Service Reporting website: http://tfsfrp.tamu.edu/FDReporting/vfd/
      1. Texas Forest Service uses this information to assist with attaining resources for the state during wildfire season.

  7. Bylaws-
    1. Need to update the bylaws to reflect the change to the dues made in July meeting.
      1. In Section 2 article 1- update fee as $125. New members will have a fee waived as a trial period, and reduce price for fire departments that can’t afford the rates.
      2. Section 1b will be update for Honorary Members and how to become Honorary Members status
      3. Larry made motion to approve the changes in the bylaws

  9. Old Business
    1. Cindy and Calvin will be looking for a place to have a dinner to honor Lynda for her years of service to the organization.
      1. Dale made the motion to spend money to have dinner for Lynda

    2. Training Day
      1. Discussion surrounded the first couple of years to list as a training day instead of an annual school
      2. We need to check with Sweetwater Creek to see if they are interested in co-sponsoring the event.
      3. We may be able to do it in 6-8 weekend sessions to complete the introductory portion of the Basic Firefighter Certification.
      4. Formed a committee to put together a training day.
        1. The committee will be composed of Denzil, Sam, Ron, and Mike

  10. Next Meeting
    1. The next meeting will be held at Pizza Duo in Borger on February 12, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
    2. We will be honoring Lynda for her years of service to the organization.
