November 13, 2008

  1. Call to Order

    Panhandle Emergency Response System meeting began at 7:32 p.m. on November 13, 2008 at Vega Fire Department.

  2. Attendees:

    The following persons were present:

  3. Approval of minutes from last Meeting

    The minutes from October meeting were presented by Alan Wells.

    Denzil made a motion to approve the minutes.

  4. Treasurers Report
    1. As of 10/9/2008, the balance is $3,385.77
    2. Going to send dues out again on the 14th.
  5. Drill Committee

    Nothing new to report

  6. Training
    1. Stinnett is having a Basic EMT class that started on Oct 16th.
    2. Boys Ranch will be having an EMT class starting in February.
    3. Adrian is having a Basic EMT class in November
      1. Need to contact Anita Little for class information
      2. They are currently looking for instructors
    4. S130/190, a wildland firefighting class, is now available on-line. Contact the National Park Service at 865-3195 for field day time.
    5. More 300 and 400 classes December 11th & 10th in Pampa
    6. NorthWest Texas Hospital will be hosting a Lifestar Landing Zone class on December 6th from 10 AM to Noon.
  7. Bylaws-
    1. Need to update the bylaws to reflect the change to the dues made in July meeting.
    2. Need to looking into making a Honorary Member status
    3. The Secretary position needs to be set up as a term position.

     

  8. Accountability
    1. PRPC is building a database to update contact information in the organization.

  9. New Business
    1. The organization’s permanent mailing address is PO Box 5654 Borger, TX 79008
    2. Fundraisers are on hold for the present time
    3. Annual School
      1. Denzil has info on starting a running and annual fire school.
      2. Need to set up as a training day first
      3. Monthly training one Saturday a month for what is needed in rotating departments
      4. Charge fees
      5. Have fundraisers
      6. Grant programs
      7. May get paid departments involved
      8. Need instructors
      9. Planning – Committee
      10. Finance – Committee Chairman (Treasurer)
    4. Discussed a new direction for the PERS organization.
      1. Go to the PERS website, www.txpers.com, to view the Powerpoint that was presented at this meeting.

     

  10. Next Meeting
    1. The next meeting will be held at the Channing Community building on January 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
